Responses to Brewer Questions
All Keurig brewers share the same innovative single-cup technology that ensures a fresh-brewed, perfect cup of coffee or tea every time. However, Keurig does market separate At Home and At Work brewers with features and UL certification appropriate for their intended use. At Home brewers include the B40 Elite, B50 Ultra, Special Edition B60 and B100 brewer. These brewers were engineered for home use—and are UL Household approved only (except the B100)—and thus should not be used in commercial/office settings. The B100 brewer can be placed in both Home and Small Office locations as it is UL Approved for Household and Commercial use. In general, our Home Brewers are designed for typical home use, including features and aesthetics most appropriate to a kitchen environment. For feature details on Keurig brewers click here.
What are the dimensions of the brewer?
The Elite B40, Ultra B50 and Special Edition B60 models are approximately 13" high, 10" wide, and 13.25" deep. When the handle is open the height is approximately 17 ". Each brewer weighs approximately 15 lbs when the water reservoir is filled.
The B100 model is approximately 15" high, 8" wide, and 17" deep and it weighs approximately 20 lbs. when filled with water.

At Keurig we have found that the optimal temperature for brewing coffee is 185° F –thus all our brewers are engineered to provide fresh coffee to your mug at that temperature. Our Elite B40, Ultra B50, and Special Edition B60 keep approximately 2 cups of water ready for brewing at a constant temperature of 185° F . After every brew cycle additional water from the outside water tank enters the brewer and is heated to brew temperature. On the B100 brewer, all of the water in the brewer is kept at a constant temperature of 185° F.

Regular cleaning (de-scaling) will prolong the life of the appliance. Scale is harmless, but left unattended, it can hinder optimal Brewer performance. De-scaling your Brewer regularly helps maintain the heating element, water reservoir and other parts of the Brewer that come in contact with water. Better water quality and water heating means a better cup of coffee. We recommend de-scaling your Brewer at least every 6 months (every three months if you are using hard water). The descaling process involves using 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar. Click here to see descaling instructions by brewer.
Regular cleaning of the Brewer’s external components is recommended for proper operation. We recommend cleaning with a soapy, damp non-abrasive cloth. The K-Cup holder and funnel, drip plate, drip tray and removeable water reservoir (on the Elite B40, Ultra B50, and Special Edition B60) are dishwasher safe. NOTE: the removeable lid of the water reservoir is NOT dishwasher safe. The brewer should be descaled every 3-6 months.

Keurig says they are working on a way to provide hot chocolate in K-Cups. In the meantime, we suggest that if you are using hot chocolate packets that you run a brew without a K-Cup so that you can get a cup of hot water quickly. Simply open and close the drawer without inserting a K-Cup and press the brew button. When hot chocolate is available we will notify you via email.
